Position Description

HDR is looking for an energetic, team-oriented, creative landscape architect to join our Urban Design, Planning & Landscape Architecture (UDPLA) studio in Denver. Our design teams work with a diverse range of clients to create vibrant places ranging from urban parks, plazas and streetscapes to health, education, science and technology campuses. The successful candidate would augment and collaborate with a growing team of designers in the following capacity.

In the role of Landscape Architect, we'll count on you to:

•   Collaborate with architects, planners, engineers and other site-based disciplines on commercial and institutionally-scaled design and planning projects

•   Develop and advance design ideas from concept through contract document phases for projects ranging widely in size and complexity.

•   Conduct site analysis to include solar orientation, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, site grading, drainage and site opportunities and constraints.

•   Support zoning and site plan approvals, public involvement, design charrettes, development programming, and design implementation

•   Create illustrative concept drawings using 3D and 2D digital illustration tools, free-hand drawing and digital color rendering

•   Prepare site plans, planting plans, grading plans, site sections and details for all phases

•   Participate in reviews with various utilities and governing agencies for code and regulatory compliance

•   Conduct design development and contract document work sessions with consultants and clients

•   Coordinate workload to ensure deadlines are met, reviewing documents for all areas of conflict with all disciplines, writing and editing site design specifications, selecting landscape and paving materials, and preparing drawings as required

•   Provide construction observation services including field observation of landscape installation and plant selection 

•   Meet with client representatives as needed

•   Perform other duties as needed


Required Qualifications

•   Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture 

•   5+ years’ experience in a landscape architecture office/environment

•   Professional registration

•   Proficiency with AutoCAD, Sketchup and Adobe Creative Suite 

•   Experience with MS Office

•   Strong Problem Solving and Design Skills

•   Project Coordination Experience

•   Demonstrated ability to produce construction documents

•   Knowledge of plant materials, terminology and planting design in urban settings

•   Excellent communication, time management, graphic, attention to detail, and organizational skills with a sense of accountability

•   A positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture


Preferred Qualifications

•   Experience with Revit, Grasshopper, Rhino, Enscape, Lumion

•   GIS knowledge

•   Experience with editing specifications

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $63,000-$91,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
