Project Designer

Ewers Architecture is seeking an architectural designer to join in our mission of “creating beautiful architecture that respects our natural resources.” We need another team member who desires to create meaningful small to medium size residential and commercial projects. This person will join our small, design-oriented firm that values relationships, beauty, sustainability, and continuing our architectural education in a collaborative environment. Our open office with no walls reflects our passion for transparency and inclusiveness. We will help you use and improve your knowledge, efficiency, and creativity, and support you as you learn to manage your own projects and clients. Competitive salary and benefits reflect our respect for all people.

The qualities and job description for the ideal candidate include:

  • Design – An integral member of a collaborative design team focusing on creating simple, beautiful solutions to complex as well as mundane design problems. Creative thinking and thoughtful critique are required to help the team create unique solutions. Ability to convey ideas through drawings (freehand, computer, or other) and words is important.
  • Sustainability – Knowledge and passion for sustainable design is extremely important to fulfilling the mission of Ewers Architecture. LEED accreditation and experience on sustainable and net zero energy projects is desired
  • Character – Ability and willingness to work with all types of clients, consultants and contractors; ability to work in an open environment; sense of humor; joy of sharing life events with co-workers and clients; respect for all people and translating that into architecture.
  • Technical and computer – We use Revit for creation of all final drawings and building information modeling. For the right candidate, training in Revit may be possible. Ability to use Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam and other basic computer programs is required.
  • Project Management – Scheduling, leading meetings, cost estimating, and basic project management are not required, but are beneficial, and will be learned through working in our office.
  • Experience – Finding the right person is more important than the amount of experience. Two to ten years of professional experience is acceptable. All qualified candidates will be considered.
  • Education – Bachelor or Masters of Architecture from an accredited institution is required. On licensure track, or already licensed, shows the commitment to architecture that is desired.
  • Hours – Full time employment is expected, with possible flexibility for less-than-full-time, significant vacation time, or other unique situations to respond to your individual needs.
